When my littles were little we spent many hours at Garden Park in East Van. There were a perfect set of little kids swings, with very long chains so the swings could go very high for such little kids. They were the best!

One day I tested out how long my eldest would stay in the swing without asking to get out. 45 mins later I gave up! Again, Higher!

During these long days at the park I wrote the chorus for this song. It was very catchy and I found myself singing it a lot. I chatted about it with a group of friends one night and some lyrics were suggested that stuck. I chatted about it again with family and more ideas were suggested and they were included.

The song has been a favourite of mine to play at live shows with families dancing and wiggling their legs and arms!

I love the image of ‘plenty of room beneath the apple tree’ contributed by Chris Bizzocchi my kids dad. It makes me think of that clapping rhyme ‘Playmate’. ‘
